"We are happy today!" That is the refrain of the song that met me as I tumbled out of the car after 6 hours of wizzing along the bumpy roads from Kamuzu Airport to Our Lady of Lourdes, Namwera, and those words certainly summed up how I felt!
It is now a new day, or rather the end of it. I am sitting on the front steps of my little house looking out over the valley to the mountains and hearing the pop music and sounds of people that rise constantly from the busstling little town. Today, I momentously got a SIM card and was reconnected with the world at large, met the nursery school (my foreign appearance only sent one little child into terrified tears), and got my bearings around campus. I will begin shadowing in the secondary school tomorrow to get the feel for how they teach, this year ends in August. In October when the new academic year starts, I will teach literature and history.
Late in following you, Hannah, but so glad I am finally able to get an idea of your new life! I feel your peaceful heart and you remain in my prayers.
