Well, I am not a sports fan, but sports do seem to be an inevitable part of high school. Wednesday afternoons, the girls have two hours for sports. Net ball (similiar to basket ball, but a definitely female sport) and "foot ball" are the most popular.
Our teams are, to be honest, not on a competitive level, but there have been two matches with neighboring schools, at both of which our teams made a decent showing.
It is fun to go to the games, because the girls have such spirit, and it is such an event for them. They really don't get out hardly at all to interact with anyone outside school enclosure.
I also see lots of pick up games when I am out walking.
There is a large soccer field by the local primary school just outside the school enclosure and there are almost always informal games going on.
Similarly with net ball. There are several places among the houses where I walk with a pole and a metal hoop women or girls playing.
