Africans have a well deserved reputation in music.

Here is a sampling to brighten your day:

Note the mentally disabled man. There is a lot of neglect of disabled people here, but there are also cases of beautiful sensitivity. This gentleman, for instance, was having a great time dancing, and he was allowed to dance. If he got to much in the front or was going to get in the way of the liturgy, someone would gentley lead him back to in front of the choir. While his dancing really was not appropriate for the liturgy, his treatment was so touching.

 

Joining the sisters for the liturgy of the hours when they chant the psalms and canticles is one of the things that keeps me grounded. I love the tones they chant and the really beautiful inculturation of the ancient Catholic liturgy into Mslawian culture:

In the wider community, I got to experience traditional dances at Disabilities Day at Titenda Pamodzi. It was a hugely festive day:
